The land is identified as Cammo HSG20 within the Edinburgh Local Development Plan (November 2016) which provides a site brief for major new development in the West Edinburgh Strategic development area. The role of the site brief is to guide the proposals and set out key design requirements for the development of the new housing site.

The key principles of the design are to create a landscape led masterplan that captures long views out of the site to Mauseley Hill and Cammo Tower and an enhanced public realm proposed along Maybury Road. The masterplan incorporates a number of different house types including affordable accommodation, private detached villas and flatted blocks. The design aims to show how the site offers an excellent opportunity to further enhance development in the area and provide a series of important pedestrian / cycle connections to the wider area.

ema held a number of workshops with architecture and design Scotland, who contributed to the design process and planning permission was granted in May 2019.
